Gameplay

The M1903 Hammerless is the first pistol accessible to the US Armed Forces, regardless of class. The handgun is cheap, weights very little in both equipment points and stamina penalty, and is very accurate. Its downsides, however, include a low rate of fire when unmodded, low damage, low effective range, and a small reserve ammunition pool of 24 rounds with a single ammunition pouch.

This pistol is most prevalent with classes who are limited in equipment points, such as Recon, Paratroopers, and Tankers. When modified correctly, the Pocket Hammerless can reach 435 RPM at a three-hit kill within ten meters -- perfect for close-quarters indoor engagements. The Hammerless synergizes well with weapons that would otherwise require a backup for close-quarters engagements, such as a Recon's bolt-action rifle, or also for backfilling unused equipment slots such as a Paratrooper with an M1A1 carbine and a medkit. The Hammerless also works well with weapons that have slow reloads but are also too bulky to allow the user to carry a full-sized handgun with ammunition, such as a M1919 or BAR. While it may not stand up to the sheer stopping power of a two-hit-kill-modded M1917 Revolver, its compact size allows the Hammerless to carry more ammunition in space-conscious loadouts, eliminating the need for Hoarder combat badge in some situations.
