The M2 Browning is a heavy machine gun, chambered for the .50 BMG cartridge, designed by John Browning. Browning also created the similar M1919 Browning, which uses the .30-06 cartridge. Both weapons served alongside one another in World War II, similar to the MG34 and MG42. The M2 is extremely effective against infantry and lightly armored vehicles.
