Gameplay
The Mauser C96 has low damage, little ammo, and low bullet velocity. Its largest advantage is its weight; it uses only 2 equipment points, so it's an excellent complement for snipers and light machine gunners. It has a very high hip-fire accuracy. For Tank Crewmen, the C96 is a good complement to the Adjustable Wrench. The C96 is Tier 2 pistol for the German faction and it is unlocked after reaching the 5th grade of Handgun Assault.
The C96 has the largest magazine of all pistols in the game, being able to shoot 10 rounds before needing to reload. This makes the C96 very viable with high-RoF builds.

History[ | ]
The Mauser C96 (Construktion 96) was one of the first successful semi-automatic pistol that came on the market. It was originally developed to fire the 7.63x25 mm Mauser bullet, but conversions were made to fire 7.65x21 Parabellum, 9x19 mm Parabellum, .45 ACP, 9 mm Mauser, 8.15 mm Mauser and 8 mm Gasser. It saw extensive service throughout both World Wars (from 1896 to 1961).
In the first World War, it was used as a carbine or pistol, mainly issued to officers or specialists like medics and artillery crew. It could feature a 10 or 15 bullet magazine, which could not be taken off or out. Instead you had to load the bullets in by hand or clip. The holster for the pistol could be used as a stock, since the pistol had a slot in it's grip in which the wooden holster could attach.
In the second World War, there were multiple conversions including the Schnellfeuer ("rapid fire") and the 9 OBI, featuring detachable magazines. Some models were improved and got a 20 round detachable magazine, although not many were. Most of these pistols were still being used as carbines or pistols, and the Schutzstaffel (SS) used them in great numbers. The 7.63x25 Mauser bullet is almost the same as the 7.62x25 Tokarev bullet, so the C96 could use the Tokarev ammo with occasional misfire.
About a million were produced world wide, and some nations are still using the pistol as it's easy to produce.
